THE LANGUAGE OF PHYSALIS
Physalis, also known as the Chinese lantern is a perennial plant which belongs to a family of more than 80 different species including ground cherry and tomatillo.
The plant has been a favourite of Easterners and Westerners for centuries and is indigenous from southeastern Europe to Japan. They are very identifiable plants with large red/orange paper-like leaves covering it's fruit - resembling paper lanterns.
PHYSALIS IN BOUQUETS
These hero flowers are a wonderful addition for autumn bouquets as well as on their own in a vase. We particularly like using them for Halloween.
This year we decided to create a beautiful Autumn Wreath with physalis on it, and we are obsessed!
PHYSALIS FOR WEDDINGS AND EVENTS
Physalis is less commonly used within wedding arrangements but is a beautiful and unique flower to choose for autumnal events. Our contracts team also find them a beautiful stem to use within private homes and hotels for a show-stopping, yet simple look!
PHYSALIS IN HISTORY
The dried fruit of Physalis is called the golden flower and in Unani medicine is used as diuretic, antiseptic, liver corrective and sedative.
Like the tomato, all its parts are poisonous except the ripe fruit.
