• Nikki's Top Five Tablescaping Tips

We visited the magical Nomadic Dinners to design the most fabulous woodland tablescape, perfect for summer alfresco dining.

To help you with your summer tablescapes, we asked our Founder, Nikki for her top tips when putting this gorgeous look together...

  • 1. The size of your table

When planning your tablescape, it's important to think about how big your table is and how many people will be sat around it. Once you know the size, you can plan your flowers and vases to fit the space and maintain lines of sight across the table.

  • 2. Colour Scheme

It's important to think about the location of the table and choose colours of your flowers, vases and linen to suit the space. You can then pick your favourite seasonal flowers to make your perfect setting, whilst still complimenting the room or area.

For this tablescape at Nomadic Dinners, Nikki chose bright pops of pinks, yellows and oranges to be a beautiful contrast against the green woodland. To tie this look together, Nikki used gorgeous pink napkins from our friends at Maison Margaux - we are obsessed!

    3. Lay your flowers first

When laying any table, make sure you place the flowers on the table before plates, glasses and cutlery - this will help you know where the middle of the table is and avoids any flowers or water going on the place settings.

  • 4. Attention to detail

For this table at Nomadic Dinners, Nikki chose beautiful recycled dusty pink vases which went perfectly with the tones and colours of the flowers, and added additional texture with green glass bud vases.

Elevate your table with a beautiful charger plate or by adding a flower onto each place setting to tie in the flowers down the centre.

  • Tip 5. Add Candles

We never tend to use candles for lunch or during the day but if you are looking to transform your table from day-to-night or are planning a dinner, the perfect way to bring a charming ambience is with beautiful tapered candles and tea lights. Choose colours that will compliment your flowers and linen and bring a gorgeous glow throughout your tablescape.
