• How these romantic flowers came to receive their name...

Nigella damascena is an annual garden flowering plant, belonging to the buttercup family.

Nigella is native to Europe, north Africa and southwest Asia, where it is grows on damp patches of land.

  • Nigella is also known as ‘love in a mist’ as the flowers are supported by a thread-like leaf structure, known as a ruff, giving the appearance of the flowers being surrounded by a mist.

The flowers bloom in late spring to early summer and are most commonly different shades of blue, but can also be found in white, pink and purple.

The unique delicate vibrant petals on these flowers make them the perfect addition to our spring bouquets!
