A romantic welcome reception in the South of France

There could hardly be a more beautiful way to begin a wedding weekend than beneath the olive trees in the south of France. For @leoniehanne and @alex.galievsky welcome reception at Château Saint Martin, the flowers were designed to feel completely at home within the landscape, romantic, abundant and softly illuminated by the evening sun.

From the very first conversations, Leonie’s favourite flowers became the starting point for the design. Peonies were layered with soft pink, white and green hydrangeas, alongside roses and textural green details, creating a palette that felt fresh and delicate while still wonderfully generous.

The gardens themselves provided so much inspiration. Rather than competing with the surrounding olive trees, clipped greenery and stone terraces, the flowers were arranged as though they were growing naturally through the setting. Abundant floral meadows followed the steps, framing the architecture and leading guests through the gardens, while flowers gathered around an existing stone fountain created a beautiful focal point.

For dinner, long tables were dressed in deep olive green, bringing a richer contrast to the softness of the flowers. Hydrangeas, peonies and roses flowed generously across the tables and down towards the grass, with candlelight adding warmth as the sun began to disappear behind the hills. Delicate draping through the olive trees and strings of lights overhead completed the atmosphere.

Alongside the flowers, the welcome reception also featured an abundant display of artichokes, courgettes, grapes, figs and other seasonal produce. Arranged sculpturally against the deep green linens, it brought another layer of texture and a distinctly Mediterranean feeling to the celebration.

As golden hour settled over the gardens, everything seemed to come together. The softness of the flowers, the deep greens of the landscape and the warmth of the evening light created something that felt both elegant and wonderfully relaxed.

It was such a pleasure to create the flowers for this beautiful beginning to Leonie and Alex’s wedding celebrations, and to see the gardens come alive for the first evening of what would become an unforgettable weekend.
