THE LANGUAGE OF ASTRANTIA

Astrantia Major, the great masterwort is a species of flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to central and eastern Europe.


These beautiful star-shaped flowers resemble a pincushion and are widely loved by gardeners and florists around the world. They come in a variety of shades, ranging from white to purple and have a long blooming period so can be seen all year round.

ASTRANTIA IN HISTORY

Astrantia major comes from the Greek word for star in reference to the star-like quality of the flower heads.


Throughout history astrantia has been used for medicinal purposes and as an essential oil.
