We asked our expert florists for some top tips on how to keep your beautiful wedding bouquet looking fresh for as long as possible! Storage, the location and seasonality can all affect how long your wedding bouquet will remain looking beautifully fresh on your special day.

1. TRIMMING

If you’re creating your own wedding bouquet, cut your stems diagonally to ensure they can absorb as much water as possible. Trim the end of your wedding bouquet stems using either scissors or a sharp knife to keep them fresh.

2. HYDRATION

Hydration is key! The most important step to making your wedding bouquet last all day is hydration whenever you’re not holding it. Flowers need clean, cold water to keep looking their best so ensure they’re kept in water the day before and morning of, and even whenever possible during the big day! Occasionally spray the bouquet throughout the day for optimum hydration!

3. COLD, DARK ROOM

Flowers thrive off sunlight when growing however once cut, they can wilt very quickly if placed in direct sunlight or in a very warm room. To ensure you’re wedding bouquet keeps looking fresh, place in a cold, shaded spot where possible.

4. SEASONAL FLOWERS

The most important thing to consider when choosing your wedding bouquet flowers is if they’re in season. Not only is this the most sustainable way to select flowers, but also in-season flowers will last longer as they’ve had full cycle of growth to look their very best! Research into what flowers are in season during your wedding month and you’ll have a wonderfully long lasting wedding bouquet.
