THE LANGUAGE OF RANUNCULUS
How these delicate flowers came to receive their name...
Ranunculus is a large genus of about 600 species of flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae. Members of the genus are known as buttercups, spearworts and water crowfoots.
They are delicate layered flowers that originated from Central Asia and eventually reached Europe and other
parts of the world
Ranunculus flowers usually bloom in the spring, but they can also be found throughout the summer or year-round, depending on the variety.
Ranunculus is one of our favourite flowers to put into our bouquets due to their delicate multi layered petals that come in many different colours!
In Victorian times, the gift of a bunch of ranunculus meant the giver found the receiver very charming indeed - and we can see why!
