SO FIRSTLY, WE'D LOVE TO KNOW HOW YOU AND EMMA-LOU MET...
"Ok, so it's a very long story...Emma-Lou is from Scotland. I was up in Glasgow for work...I'd been there for about a week and I hadn't seen much of the city while I was working. So, I decided to go to one of the art galleries. And I was cruising around downstairs, and saw this long catwalk for a graduate fashion show. I stood and waited down the catwalk. And immediately we caught eyes. And I remember getting that feeling you get when you see someone and you just feel that strong attraction.
I went back to my buddies' who I was staying with and I described this girl to see if they knew who she was. They said it sounds like this girl, Emma-Lou. So they showed me a photo and it was her! Anyway, I went back to London and thought nothing of it.."
But three weeks later I went to Edinburgh for another job, and waiting at the airport's baggage reclaim, I looked up and there was this huge billboard for a jewellery company. And Emma-Lou was modelling. So that immediately made me think that this was meant to be. Like it had happened for a reason.
So I followed her on Facebook. I always say to this day that I was the first person to message her but she actually messaged me first. That's the good thing about Facebook, you can go back and check! And we actually messaged for three years, back and forth. She moved down to London in that time but we were both busy doing our own thing.
When we properly met (3 years later), I was going up to Glasgow and she was there that weekend. I messaged her saying it was about time we actually met. But she was super busy. So I said, why don't we get the train from Glasgow to London together? And that's how we first met. On a five hour journey. I asked her on another date when we got to London, and that was that..."
WHAT'S YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT VALENTINE'S DATE?
"We travel a lot, so for us, it's just about spending quality time together. Maybe going for a really beautiful meal and just sharing that moment together. For me, that's what Valentine's Day is about. Sharing a moment with your loved one."
...AND IMPORTANTLY, WHAT FLOWERS WILL YOU BE SENDING HER?
"Well hey, there's got to be some surprise up in here! I like to mix it up each year to keep her guessing, so I don't always go for red roses. Although I love them. The lilac roses in the Eternal Love are so beautiful. So it'll be something unique like that."
WHAT'S THE MOST ROMANTIC THING YOU'VE EVER DONE FOR HER?
"It's hands down the day I asked her to marry me. And that's an even longer story! It was the biggest day of my life. I'd planned it for about eight months, everything from designing the ring (the diamond was taken from my grandmother's engagement ring) to planning everything else.
To sum it up, it involved a beautiful trip to Gothenburg, a special padlock, a picnic, and an unforgettable moment that we will never forget."
FINALLY, HAVE YOU GOT ANY NON-CHEESY ROMANCE TIPS?
"1. Flowers. Never Cheesy
2. Having a meal together. Doesn't have to be out. You could get take-out or even cook.
3. Share amazing moments. It's all about the thought. One of the best dates we've had was when we just moved house. I put out rose petals, candles and we just grabbed a pizza and a bottle of red. The most important thing is just putting in the thought."
