33475821474_540b391b78_bWe are thrilled to share with you the success of the first Wild at Heart Foundation Pub Quiz. We were blessed to have the one and only AbFab women herself, Jennifer Saunders, host the event last week in a pub in West London.

It was a chance for friends of the foundation, supporters and adopters to test their canine knowledge while enjoying a glass of wine and fabulous food. All courtesy of the Elgin pub in Maida Vale. We are delighted to let you that the foundation raised just over £2600. These much needed funds will be directed toward our Bosnia project, which some of our team recently visited.

Special thank you’s go to Harriet Thorpe for pulling out the raffle tickets, Sara Delaney and Alexandra Palmay for their smashing photography skills, TRACE Publicity for their unwavering support and our quiz master, the fabulous Michael Guerriero. And of course a huge thank you to all who generously provided gifts for raffle prizes (House of Voltaire, Links of London, Lily’s Kitchen, Sock Shop, Hush, Absolute Flowers & Home, Lisa & Dean Franklin, Tata Harper, Blossom Consulting, Betty Jackson & David Cohen and Wild at Heart).

The evening was a huge success and therefore we will be hosting another one this summer – stay tuned for more information. The tickets sold out in record time, so be sure to get yours early next time!

The highly anticipated annual arrival of one of our favourite Spring / Summer flowers came last week. A go to for summer weddings, fashion events and editorials – the peony returned to New Covent Garden Flower Market bearing a a sense of superiority, as they begin to once again hold our hearts for the summer months.

Their presence has got us ‘oh so’ excited for the full bloomed, frilly headed, sweet scented season ahead and with this in mind we have complied just a few of our favourite Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart’s peony moments…image11 Head florist, Ruth-Warren-Steed’s wedding, set on the coast of Cornwall was a wash with peonies incorporated in her bouquet, statement arch and table centers. image2Last summers Soho Farmhouse wedding used Coral Charm peonies as the focal flower in the arrangements. All bought from New Covent Garden in the same shade of bright fuschia they were bleached of colour in our London studio until they turned this delicate shade of soft apricot. Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 15.14.44Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetIn the grounds of Haddon Hall we created this stunning free standing arch using a mass of olive to act as the perfect contrasting back drop to the eclectic mix of roses and fuchsia peonies used within. Peony ArchPeony - Instagram nice shotA favourite from last Summer’s collection, this bouquet was inspired by the bright display at the front of our Chelsea florist shop. A generous mix of bright peonies with lush green guelder and dainty clematis. Our new collection will be online soon and brimming with the “Queen of Spring”…

Thank you to the wonderful Megan Morton for featuring Nikki’s home in her new book – It’s Beautiful Here. Released on Friday the 7th of April the book contains a compendium of homes captured by the extremely talented Brook Holm.

World renowned Stylist, Megan, recently visited Nikki at her Notting Hill home to discover how her two life passions, flowers and dogs, have coincided to create a space designed to decorative perfection!

A home brought brought to life by her family of five rescue dogs the book also details her and co-founder, Nadine Kayser’s, efforts to grow The Wild at Heart Foundation and end the killing of stray dogs world-wide, whilst keeping a few for themselves along the way…

Christopher Kane And Disney's "Beauty And The Beast" CapsuleThis month saw the highly anticipated launch of Christopher Kane’s capsule collection inspired by the release of the new Beauty and the Beast film. The sustainable collection takes a modern twist on the tale as old as time, incorporating elements of the film into each piece.

In celebration of the launch of the 34-piece capsule collection, Wild at Heart adorned the front of the Mayfair flagship store with over 3,000 fresh rose buds and creeping ivy.  The installation engulfed the shop front transforming Mount Street into and scene from the enchanted forest. Christopher Kane And Disney's "Beauty And The Beast" Capsule Christopher Kane And Disney's "Beauty And The Beast" Capsule

The sun is shining and spring flowers are in abundance, making it the perfect time to bring the outside in with a few floral arrangements around your home.

When it comes to getting the perfect arrangement that not only looks great but lasts well too, who better to turn to for advice than Nikki herself? Read on to discover Nikki’s top tips for flower arranging.

What to consider

Which room will your arrangement be displayed in? Consider the colour, style and texture of that room. Also think about the vases you have to work with, both aesthetically and practically. For instance, a tall cylinder vase will suit tall, structured flowers like lilies, whereas smaller vases are great for delicate flowers like sweetpeas and narcissi.

Buy seasonally

Always the key to getting the best from your flowers, if you buy seasonally they’ll look better, last longer and you’ll also get the best value for your money. If you aren’t sure what to pick, your florist will be able to advise you on the latest seasonal flowers.

Which flowers?

It’s important to consider the colour, form and texture of the flowers you want to display and which ones will work well together. Generally, I wouldn’t use more than three types of flowers together in one arrangement, as any more than this starts to look messy. I’d also pair flowers with similar shaped heads together. For example, round-headed peonies look great with roses and spears of delphinium with stocks. Alternatively, a mass of one type of flower always looks effective and makes a contemporary statement.

How to arrange?

Cut the stems of the flowers on an angle and place in cool water as soon as you get them home. Fill your chosen vase/jug/bottle/vessel three-quarters full with water and add any food sachets that may have come with the flowers. If you don’t have any flower food add a sterilising tablet to keep the water clean. Once you’ve cut your stems, remove any leaves below the water line as these will rot and cause bacteria in the water. Start your arrangement with foliage at the base and if you’re not using foliage then start with your biggest flowers. Build the arrangement stem by stem and try to spiral them into the vase. Finally, just make sure your arrangement looks good from all the angles it will be visible.

Fresher for longer

To keep your arrangement looking its best, place it away from heat and out of direct sunlight. Also give the vase fresh water every couple of days and if you can, re-cut the stems. These simple steps will keep your flowers looking fresher for longer.
