We managed to get into the Whitehall banqueting Hall last Sunday while it was being prepared for an absolutely gorgeous wedding…

The guests guessed they were in for a special time as they were greeted by burning pyres and a red carpet.

Normally, the first thing that hits you when you enter the banqueting hall is the amazing ceiling painted by Reubens – it’s the only work by the artist to remain in it’s original position and it totally takes your breath away, but on Sunday this and the combination of Nikki’s elongated gold and silver chesterfield sofas, the low and long golden mirrored coffee tables and pouffes, luxurious rugs, absolutely gorgeous flowers and one of the most notable guest lists in town was enough to make your heart skip a couple of beats!

Nikki worked with the bride closely and they decided on a combination of black Dahlias, Hypnose, Pink Piano Roses and pale pink Dahlias to create a nude vintage look with dramatic bursts of black and red.

The gorgeous flowers were complimented by sumptuous brown damask table linen and gold rimmed crystal goblets to add to the overall luxurious feel…

It all looked so completely gorgeous, we were wishing we had an invite – especially when we saw the cake!

Halloween is coming up fast and our wonderful team at the Island have been busy creating some rather gorgeous seasonal treats for us. Taking Physalis fruit – more commonly known as the Chinese Lantern (for obvious reasons!) and attaching them to bare branches with wire, they created the illusion of a lantern festival in miniature, popping with colour!

While the finishing touches were being made Chris was determined to bring a Mexican Day of the Dead feel to his Halloween pumpkin with some pretty spectacular carving!

The team will be lighting the pumpkins tomorrow, so pop along to the Island to pick up your pumpkin and some tips from the experts on how to make yours look like it was carved by a pro!

Working with the creative director of Vogue in 2008, it was inevitable that Nikki was going to be involved in a project that was way ahead of the trend, and as the catwalks have gone flower print crazy this season we think it’s fitting that we revisit the creative collaboration that produced these spectacular images.
