Against the crisp white walls and beautiful art, our flowers were the perfect complement last night at the gorgeous Saatchi Gallery. A private party was being hosted in the main space and guests were treated to an evening of champagne and canapés, with a special performance by a talented guitarist (unfortunately, I’m not allowed to reveal names!). Two grand silver urns of Green Tea roses, green hydrangea, lime green guelder roses and white parrot tulips framed the stage, whilst silver beakers of roses and tulips scattered the room amongst the mirrored tables. Clusters of tea-lights in silver and grey twinkled in front of the vintage velvet chairs.
I am proud to announce the launch of the ‘Hope Bouquet’ in support of OvarianCancer Awareness Month during March. For every ‘Hope Bouquet’ ordered a 20% donation will be made to Ovarian Cancer Action, the leading medical research charity for this issue in the UK. The beautiful bouquet features the sumptuous and luxurious purple clematis that contrasts elegantly against its rich green foliage.
Today marks the first day of lent, the day before Ash Wednesday and more importantly, Pancake Day. Also known Shrove Tuesday, stemming from an old English Word, ‘shrive’, Pancake Day is the day for eating pancakes as pancake recipes were traditionally the way to use up any stocks of milk, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.
I remember when I was little, Pancake Day filled my home with so much joy and many laughs. What topping shall I have? How many can I eat? Am I going to be able to flip it? Just a few of the exciting thoughts which use to whizz around my head all day.
Tonight, I shall be taking to the hob, frying pan in hand, preparing for the ultimate ‘flip-off’ (it’s become quite a competition in my household!). I wanted to share with you one of my perfect pancake recipes which comes from my dear friend, Sophie Conran. It’s simple yet simply scrumptious. And made even more delicious with a sprinkling of sugar and lemon on!
175g plain flour
A pinch of salt
50g melted butter
Corn oil for frying
Use a handheld mixer or food processor to blend all the ingredients together (apart from the corn oil). Heat a tiny amount of oil in a non-stick frying pan. When the oil is very hot, ladle enough mixture into the pan to make a thin layer, by swirling it around until it covers the bottom of the pan. Use a fish slice to flip your pancake, unless you’re super skilled, then feel free to flip without the aid of any utensils. Pancakes can be thick or thin which is totally dependent on taste.

A red carpet evening of glamour and glitz visited the Tibbles household last night. Not quite Hollywood, but I spent hours glued to my screen watching the Oscars 2014 and in awe of all the beautiful dresses adorned by A-listers worldwide. Actresses pulled out all the stops to make sure the spotlight was shining brightly on them and, of course, their carefully chosen dress.
The big trends? Deep v neckline or simple and strapless. Sparkle was essential, whether it be shimmering fabrics, encrusted panels or delicate embellishment. I was in fashion heaven!
Congratulations to all the fabulous winners on the thoroughly deserved awards.
It’s not just fashion which has got everyone talking floral trends this spring. Peachy pinks, berry shades and coral brights will be all over our pretty faces before we know it. Taking inspiration from fabulously colourful flowers, lipstick, blushes and even eyeshadow will be huge trend setters this coming season. Fresh flowers in the hair will also add extra gorgeousness to your sweet spring look. Now hurry up, sunshine!

In the heart of the city sits a brand new bar, Steam and Rye. Located on Leadenhall Street the venue once housed the Bank of New York but is now home to proud new owner, the fabulous Kelly Brook. We were lucky enough to spend our evening here last night as hosts of a flower class in conjunction with Mask Events. Upstairs in the quirkiest of rooms where peacocks sat, vintage suitcases were piled high and chandeliers and birdcages hung from the ceiling, we had great fun incorporating a pop-up flower stall amongst the eccentric surroundings.
Guests were treated to champagne and canapés whilst being introduced to the Wild at Heart team and letting their imagination flow during a floral jam-jar masterclass. My gorgeous florist, Robyn, led the way as guests picked their choice of flowers from the pop-up stall. From roses and tulips to anemones and mimosa, colourful jam-jars were surrounding us all, with perfect ribbon tying and flower designing.
Steam and Rye has been refurbished to look like New York’s Grand Central Station and even features a first class cocktail carriage. The bar comes complete with high ceilings and new-gothic pillars, perfect for the 1925 Hollywood glamour. A must visit – and that’s not just for the cocktails!
Covered in delicate pink blossom, there’s something utterly mesmerising about blossom trees.
A client of mine had requested one of these pretty trees to stand centre of attention in the reception room of her birthday party. We added dreamy butterflies to the beautiful blossom and placed on a bright light plinth; we wanted guests to feel as though they were about to step into a fairy-tale story.
Under the umbrella of shimmering blossom, spotlights shined against the whimsical tree and reflections dazzled in the eyes of friends and family.
